The Indian junior selection committee named Shubman Gill as his deputy. The World Cup will be held from January 13 to February 3. India is a three-time winner of the competition, the joint-most along with Australia. In the last edition of the tournament in 2016 in Bangladesh, India strolled to the final but lost a closely fought title clash against Windies. The India team will have a preparatory camp in Bengaluru from December 8 to 22 before the event. However, Shaw and Ishan Porel will not join the camp immediately, having been given permission to play for Mumbai and Bengal respectively in the Ranji Trophy quarter-finals.
