NEW DELHI: The mega two-day Indian Premier 2018 auction is over. Across Saturday and Sunday, the eight franchises assembled under one roof to rebuild their squad for the upcoming season of the cash-rich IPL.  England all-rounder Ben Stokes was the costliest buy  while Jaydev Unadkat turned out to be the most expensive India cricketer at the auction. Chasing a target of 308 runs in 40 overs at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in UAE on Saturday, the Indian team reached there with 8 balls remaining. Here's all you need to know The 12 edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup gets underway in various venues in New Zealand starting on Saturday. The opening day of the 2018 edition – the third time New Zealand are hosting the tournament – features four games, with the hosts taking on defending champions West Indies. The concept of such a tournament took shape 30 years ago, in Australia, when it was called the Youth World Cup. It returned after a ten-year break and from then on it has been referred to as the U-19 World Cup, held every two years. Format The 16 teams have been divided into four groups of four teams each. All teams in each group will play each other once. The top two from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals. The top four will qualify for the semi-finals. The final will be played on February 3 at Mount Maunganui.

Mumbai batsman will look to lead his side to a record fourth title; Gill named his deputy Prithvi Shaw will lead a 15-member Indian team at the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2018 in New Zealand in January-February, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced on Sunday (December 3). The Indian junior selection committee named Shubman Gill as his deputy. The World Cup will be held from January 13 to February 3. India is a three-time winner of the competition, the joint-most along with Australia. In the last edition of the tournament in 2016 in Bangladesh, India strolled to the final but lost a closely fought title clash against Windies. The India team will have a preparatory camp in Bengaluru from December 8 to 22 before the event. However, Shaw and Ishan Porel will not join the camp immediately, having been given permission to play for Mumbai and Bengal respectively in the Ranji Trophy quarter-finals.
